Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a 1200 cow dairy that is currently searching for an experienced Herd Manager that is capable of assisting with relocating existing dairy operation to a new site. Operation will move existing cows and equipment. Herd Manager will go forward to new dairy site to assist with transfer and help start up new dairy operations. Employer will relocate current dairy to Pacific Northwest (1st choice) or Northeastern United States (2nd choice). New dairy will milk 600 cows after transfer. Herd Manager will manage dairy in owner’s absence, delegate responsibilities, interview employees, assist with obtaining bids on feed, supplies, medications, etc. After transfer is completed, Herd Manager will report to owner, be involved with AI breeding, embryo work, herd health, working with the Nutritionist and Veterinarian, breeding, supervising employees, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: MUST HAVE CURRENT DAIRY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. Experience with start up dairies or someone that has the ability to start up a new dairy operation is required; College education preferred; Knowledge of registered cattle; Embryo transfer experience a plus; Basic farm equipment knowledge; Self starter; Quality minded, flexible and progressive thinker; Basic computer experience (Use PC Dart & Windows Office with palm pilot); Ability to speak Dairy Spanish is a plus.
