Business Unit Description: Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Land O’Lakes Inc, is North America’s leading feed company, providing producers, cooperatives and dealers with an extensive line of animal feed, ingredients and services.
Position Purpose: As a Purchasing Manager, you are responsible for the procurement of macro and micro ingredients for the Land O'Lakes Purina Feed LLC Pacific Northwest manufacturing plants . Key responsibilities include:
o Developing procurement strategies in support of business objectives.
o Managing vendor performance and relationships.
o Negotiation and administration of purchase contracts.
o Implementing risk management initiatives.
o Conducting market analysis and communicating market trends to business partners.
o Achieving financial, operational and quality results.
o Supervision of procurement staff.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education: o Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or Business.
0 5+ years experience in grain procurement or feed ingredient merchandising.
o 3+ years supervisor experience.
Required Competencies & Other Skills: o Background in procurement, feed ingredient merchandising or related business.
o Strong knowledge of cash commodity markets , basis and the use of CME futures and options as hedging tools.
o Demonstrated negotiation skills.
o Knowledge of processing operations requirements.
o Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
o Effective presentation skills.
o Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o Effective use of office technology (MS Office).
o Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.
