Monsanto is seeking a Research Associate to become part of the Biotechnology organization.  They will perform lab experiments and documenting results for the generation of data for genetically improved crops.  The successful candidate should have basic training in the areas of plant cell biology, molecular biology or other related areas with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience.  Research associates perform research and/or development in collaboration with others, make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results. 

 

Responsibilities include:

- Molecular biology expertise, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.

- Design and execution of experiments, collection and management of data.

- General lab operations support

 

 

Required Skills/Experience:

 

- M.S. in a biological science or  related field of study

- 3+ years of research experience in plant cell biology and molecular biology.

- Basic microscopy skills.

- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office, Excel, database and data analysis software.

 

Desired Skills/Experience:

- Previous experience with yeast 2 hybrid technologies

- Tissue culture expertise

- Basic knowledge of bionformatics

- Experience with automation
