We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary Research Team. The successful Research Assistant will provide computer support for a sweet pepper breeding program and associated special projects. Additionally, this Research Assistant has the opportunity to contribute to all operations in a sweet pepper breedign program with international reach: field trials, seed preparation, seeding, field plot management, data collection, harvesting and trial plots. This is a unique opportunity to work with leading technology and talented research scientists seeking to deliver the best in vegetable crop genetics.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in computer related activities for a sweet pepper breeding program and associated special projects.
- Assist in the interpretation of breeding records and summarize findings concisely in writing
- Oversee different greenhouse operations, seeding, management of plants, crossing, self-pollinating, data collection, harvest, etc.
- Utilitzation of research equipment
- Perform safety inspections and assist in providing safety training and guidance to field personnel.
- Work closely with other research sites to keep program operating efficiently
- Assist in other projects and perform other duties as and when required.

Required:
- Bachelors in plant science or related fields, Master's in Plant breeding, genetics, plant science or related field preferred
- High level of competence in learning new computer programs required
- Ability to work extended hours during the peak seasons
- Experience utilizing MS Excel and MS Word
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
