Project Director, Paraguay We are currently seeking a long-term project director with experience in banana production and export for an anticipated multi-year USAID-funded program based in Asuncion, Paraguay. The purpose of the project is increase incomes for small horticulture farmers through the improvement of the banana value chain. This will be accomplished primarily by improving infrastructure and access to information and services. The project director will be responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day quality control for project activities. Responsibilities: - Oversee all components of the project, acting as the project representative to farmers, community leaders and government entities
- Design and implement annual and quarterly work plans. Report on project activities to ACDI/VOCA headquarters and donor on a monthly, annual and quarterly basis on technical, budgeting, personnel and contractual issues, as necessary
- Liaise with appropriate government and non-governmental bodies, including banana producers’ associations, to achieve program objectives
- Assess the programmatic need for technical assistance and write scopes of work for consultants. Consult as needed with headquarters and in-country ACDI/VOCA Country Representative regarding programmatic need for consultants
- Supervise field staff and short term consultants associated with the project
- Oversee assessment of results for the program
- Monitor project budget to ensure that expenditures are within approved budget parameters and that all financial reporting requirements are met
Qualifications: - Minimum of eight years’ experience managing donor-funded projects
- Experience providing agriculture or agribusiness technical assistance, particularly in the areas of banana production and export
- Strong communication skills required
- Fluency in Spanish and English required
- Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures highly preferred.
