Seeking that rare opportunity to play a key role in the future direction 
of one of Australia’s largest horticultural industries?

The Australian Banana Growers’ Council Inc is the national peak industry 
body representingthe interests of Australia’s 850 banana growers. The Council 
formulates and advocates industry policy, facilitates the exchange of information 
across the supply chain, fosters community interest and awareness of banana 
issues and promotes best practice and research and development for the long 
term prosperity of the Australian banana growing industry.

With the recent introduction of the national banana levy, the industry is poised 
to capitalise on significant investment opportunities so the CEO will be at the 
forefront of driving that investment activity and taking the industry to new heights. 
This investment will be broad in context including R&D, plant health and promotions.

As CEO you will manage the affairs and activities of the Council and its affiliates, 
representing the policies of the Council and developing strategic alliances with 
Government and the wider community. Effective communication with growers 
and stakeholders is essential, coordinating advice to the industry and promoting 
community awareness.

This role requires a background in horticulture, an interest in R&D, sound judgement, 
proven business management skills and commercial acumen. Additionally, strategic 
planning and the ability to juggle different projects and priorities to get things done, 
while also being accessible to people at all levels, is key to the role.
