Managing Director – Abu Dhabi - Exciting O/S opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the future direction of the Food and Agricultural industry in Abu Dhabi. Australia’s leading international development management company has been contracted to assist in the reform of the Emirate’s agricultural sector. A farmers’ Association will be established to with the aim of restructure the agricultural industry to become a financially independent and technically superior organization. The farmer’s Association will provide both on-farm and off-farm services to participating farmer members across a diverse range of produce and livestock. Head office will be located in Abu Dhabi with a regional office and further local offices located across the Western Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi supporting some 400 personnel. The Managing Director will be based in Abu Dhabi for five (5) years and will lead, coordinate, and provide all strategic, financial, operational, reputation and performance -related aspects of the development, planning and management of the Association. Further responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following; - establish within the Association a climate of openness, transparency and
accountability; - ensure a high level of accountability and standard of service to the Board;
- take a high-level communication role with external stakeholders as well
as senior Abu Dhabi Government officials and other key stakeholders; - supervise the appointment process and recommend to the Board an international
accounting firmto audit the Association’s financial accounts annually and prepare reports for Board consideration; - ensure the Association’s compliance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates and
the Emirate of Abu Dhabi; - be responsible for the scale-up and spin-off of all the Association’s lines of business;
- be responsible for the Association’s commercial viability;
- participate in the recruitment of key staff and the establishment of effective human
resource management processes and procedures, including a structured performance appraisal system; - guide the process to mobilize the Association;
- ensure the Association has the capacity and resources at all times to execute
its mandate efficiently and effectively; and - provide on-going advice to all stakeholders, as required.
The ideal candidate will possess appropriate tertiary qualifications combined with a minimum of 10 years working at a senior level in a commercial agribusiness environment managing field operations, as well as supply chain and marketing. You will have prior experience in change management ideally across a multi layered organisational structure with an international staffing profile. You will also have experience in seniorlevel government liaison. In addition, you will be a strong communicator across different levels and cultures with sound presentation and facilitation skills combined with an open, flexible, innovative working style.
