Commercial Credit Advisor - Agriculture 

Position Purpose 
Reporting to the Team Leader, this role contributes to the strategic Canadian Banking business priorities by supporting Commercial Account Managers in the credit process for CFS clients with Total Single Name Exposure of up to $2MM. Accountable for credit renewals, reviewing and establishing the client’s BRR, and ensuring credit structures adequately mitigate the respective credit risks. Adjudicates transaction requests and approves policy exceptions within delegated lending limits using sound judgment and employing a balanced approach to growth and portfolio quality. Deliver on superior client service by structuring and approving transactions with a client centric approach. Creates and manages strong partnerships in order to optimize the internal process reducing responsive time and increasing effectiveness. Ability to recognize enterprise solutions that can be leveraged to improve the client experience. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced credit adjudicators to broaden their CFS knowledge as well as a developmental role for experienced Commercial Account Managers wishing to deepen their credit skills.

Key Accountabilities 
Develops strong working relationship with CFS VPs and Account Managers 
• Utilizes specialized knowledge and experience to support the credit needs of Commercial Account Managers and their clients. 
• Responsible for preparing and developing credit renewal submission (BBTR/FACT), leveraging simplified processes when applicable. 
• Influences portfolio quality through capable credit risk assessment and strategic assessment. Ensures an appropriate balance between Risk and Return 
• Approves Transaction Requests within Delegated Lending Limits for renewals and new business within agreed upon timelines (i.e.. Client Service Commitments). 
• Exercise due diligence in recommending and preparing credit renewals re: know your client, know the transaction, credit structure, risk analysis and client strategy. 
• Knowledgeable in Credit Administration & Compliance Trends (Expired Credits, Out of Order Margins/Covenants/EWS/Reporting and Security, BRR, Delinquent & NAL, Watchlist – classification & strategy) through enquiry of business partners, recommends course of action on specific accounts and assists business partners with action to correct any unsatisfactory situations. 
• Identifies opportunities to maintain competitive credit structures, manage risk based on client’s current position, and proactively recommend solutions. 
• Takes ownership of escalations and responsible for resolving issues at source within delegated authorities. 
• Prioritize and complete monthly calls with Account Managers appropriately, balancing client needs and high risk situations effectively, while ensuring account managers are informed of any changes in the review schedule 
• At credit renewal (if applicable) follow procedures relative to changes in Borrower Risk Rating (BRR), kiting, anti money laundering, fraud prevention, third party referrals, cash and custody, early warning signals, covenant breaches, margin deficits and general negative trends in borrower financial performance, etc. as outlined in folio instructions and guidelines

Knowledge / Experience 
• Proven credit analysis and adjudication skills 
• Diploma/Degree in Agriculture or equivalent experience 
• Proven new client acquisition, sales and revenue growth skills 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a partnering philosophy. 
• Demonstrated planning, organizational, financial, credit analysis and decision making skills 
• Demonstrated understanding of RBC Commercial lending guidelines and policies. 
• Team Player
• Customer focused 
• Change management skills 
• Proficient in all standard Bank technology as applicable (e.g. Outlook, RBCnet, CWB, FACT, word processing & spreadsheets)
